What Does Hashtags means?

A Hashtags are a type of label or metadata tag used on social network and microblogging services which makes it easier for users to find messages with a specific theme or content.

Users create and use hashtags by placing the hash character (or number sign) # in front of a word or unspaced phrase, either in the main text of a message or at the end. Searching for that hashtag will then present each message that has been tagged with it.

For example, on the photo-sharing service Instagram the hashtag #bluesky allows users to find images that have been tagged as containing the sky, and #cannes2014 is a popular tag for images from the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Hashtags can be used to collect public opinion on events and ideas at the local, corporate, or world level.

The term hashtag can also refer to the hash symbol itself when used in the context of a hashtag.

A proper set of hashtags have to be formed along with a meaningful/related word that can help the visitors to locate the products or services online on the social media site.

A hash tag or hashtag is a way of organizing your Tweets for Twitter search engines. Users simply prefix a message with a community driven hash tag to enable others to discover relevant posts. One commonly used hash tag on twitter is #followfriday where users network by providing the names of their favorite people to follow on Twitter.

You have likely seen #hashtags everywhere these days. Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Pinterest, and many other social sites use hashtags to create instant connections with other users. When another user uses hashtags to find a particular word, they will see all posts containing that hashtagged word. It's a really handy skill to learn, as social media becomes the primary way we communicate.

How do I use hash tags In Facebook?

Hashtags turn topics and phrases into clickable links in your posts on your personal Timeline or Page. This helps people find posts about topics they’re interested in. To make a hashtag, write # (the number sign) along with a topic or phrase and add it to your post. When you click a hashtag, you’ll see a feed of posts that include that hashtag. You may also see some related hash tags at the top of the page.

Please keep in mind:

You can search for a hashtag using the search bar at the top of any page
You'll only see posts that were shared with you A hashtag must be written as a single word, without any spaces You can include numbers in a hashtag, but punctuation and special characters (like $ and %) won't work

How do I use hash tags In Instagram?

If your posts are set to public, you can add hashtags to your photos and videos.

To tag a photo or video:

  • Take a photo/video and choose a filter.

  • On the screen you see after choosing a filter, type your hashtag in the Caption field (ex: #flower).

  • If you want to tag a post you've already uploaded, edit the caption or include your #hashtag in a comment on your photo.

  • After you tag your post with a hashtag, you'll be able to tap the hashtag to see a page that shows all photos and videos people have uploaded with that hashtag. Read our blog for more tips on using hashtags.

Things to keep in mind:

  •  When people with private profiles tag posts, they won't appear publicly on hashtag pages.

  •  Numbers are allowed in hashtags. However, spaces and special characters, like $ or %, won't work.

  •  You can only tag your own posts. You can't tag other people's photos/videos.

  •  You can use up to 30 tags on a post. If you include more than 30 tags on a single photo/video, your comment won't post.

  •  Older versions of Apple iOS don't support tapping hash tags. Instead, search hash tags by going to Search & Explore > Search > Hashtags.
